The instrumentation on these samples is clarinet, trumpet, banjo, and tuba, the latter two replacing the guitar and string bass in the swing version of our band to achieve the Dixieland sound. We can add other instruments like sax, trombone, piano, and/or drums and we can throw in some vocals too. These samples were recorded at a party using a small recorder and a single microphone. As a result, the balance, reverb, and levels are not studio quality and there is crowd noise, but the spirit, musicianship, and virtuosity of the band shines through. |
